About Us

Scirocco Enterprises Ltd. was formed 1n 1981 as Oriental Quarries and Concrete Blocks Ltd. The company started a small crushing operation in Lusaka using second hand equipment. Operations have grown to the point where the company is the leading supplier of aggregates for the construction industry, Block Yardroad building contractors and for concrete blocks and ready mixed concrete in the Lusaka region. The name was changed in 1995 to reflect the growing diversification of the company as the original name was too restrictive.

In addition to the quarrying operation in Lusaka, the company has diversified into the field of providing services to the quarrying and mining industry further afield.. The company is setting up a new crushing plant with 150 TPH throughput to improve aggregate production and meet rising demand.

The company maintains a fleet of new state of the art machines supplied by various reputable manufacturers to carry out all the quarrying works. Our current fleet consists articulated dump trucks , excavators, wheel loaders and Dozers. All machines are bought new and operated till the warranty expires on them. After that, they are traded in for new machines. The average age of the fleet is 12 months. Since all machines are purchased new, and are all under warranty, all servicing and maintenance work will be carried out by the suppliers ensuring increased availability and enhanced performance. New machines are acquired when demand warrants the purchase of additional units.

Quarry The company currently has two crushing operations with the following capacities:

• Plant 1 set up in 2004 with a capacity to crush up to 3 fractions at 1000 tonnes per day. This plant primarily supplies aggregate for the block making operation.
• Plant 2 set up in 2007 with a slightly Higher capacity and four fractions. This plant supplies the bulk of aggregates for sale to clients. A new bigger and more versatile plant is being designed for installation during the course of 2009. This will go a long way to satisfying the demand for all sizes of aggregates.

In addition to the above, the company has the only automated, mass production operation for concrete blocks to cater for the building industry. A new block making operation was commissioned in December 2005. The new operation is a complete static plant capable of 22,000 hollow blocks in a 9 hr shift with an increased product range. Pavers will be manufactured to international specifications
